Stay off red meat, my dad has high blood presure, so high he should be dead, but thank God he is not. As you know you have to lower your bad cholesterol and higher your good cholesterol, yes vegtibles and fruit will do good, but simple walking excercising is good, nothing too big. I would believe that there are still many options before medication.
1) Change diet. This is the best method.Avoid high cholesterol foods.Eat more oatmeal,it can reduce cholesterol.If you don't care for that try Cheerios.
2) Add Garlic to your diet. Garlic has so many good benefits that they would be difficult to list here. Among its miraculous properties…It reduces cholesterol.
3) Try ONE small glass of red wine each day. I hesitate to tell this because it is in our nature to overdo things… It is true that Alcohol can also reduce cholesterol. Red wine also has Antioxidants.
One might want to try some of these methods before resorting to medication.

Your cholesterol should be under 5 but the doctors in the stroke unit where I work like it to be under 3.5. So yours is really quite high. the main cause is junk food, poor diet so you should work to cut down on the junk food and develop a balanced diet. There are not really any symptoms that you could say are of high cholesterol, but be tested regularly. Consult your doctor too.
