what can I do with fresh rose hips? nothing too complicated!?
there are a lot of hips in the hedges and it seems a shame to waste, but I can not use.
Recipes Rosehip hips are the fruit-sized red cherry bush left behind after the flower has died. Although almost all rose bushes produce rose hips, the tastiest for food from the variety Rosa rugosa. The flavor is described as fruity and spicy, much like the cranberry. Pick the fruits after the first frost when they become fully colored, but not overripe. It must yield to gentle pressure, but not be smooth or rough. Most recipes advise removing the seeds before processing irritating hairy fruit. When cooking with rose hips, do not use metal containers or other utensil stainless steel or risk fading from the fruit and the loss of its vitamin C stores precious. Ingredients Rosehip Jelly 4 quarts 2 quarts ripe rose hips water 1 package pectin crystals 5 cups sugar 1 / 2 cup lemon juice Directions Simmer rose hips in water until soft. Crush to mash, and strain through a jelly bag. Should make about 4 cups of juice rose hip. Add to juice, lemon juice and pectin crystals and stir until the mixture begins to boil hard. Mix sugar at once. Bring to a rolling boil and boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and remove jelly the foam with a metal spoon. Pour into hot sterilized jars
