Grapefruit seed extract and its many uses

My test in Malaysia
In 2006 I visited some small towns and famous "long houses" near Kuching in East Malaysia. I was part of a team of church workers to help local churches that were associated with many of them in outlying neighborhoods, some touched only by a hike through the forest or through "roads" only passable for 4×4 vehicles. I avoided any drink of milk or disreputable local "soup" dishes, and drank a lot of Coke (I know, there is where the healthy part!). Despite the high moisture and nutrients very different, I completed my ten days in the jungles and cities without unwanted stomach problems. I do not think I was in better shape than any other person, and I attribute this to two things: prayer and GSE!
Grapefruit seed extract and swine flu
From then I discovered it has some powerful uses of a cleaner surface to a cold sore remover to a treatment of eczema. Apparently, it is becoming in the disinfectant of choice in many hospitals across the U.S.. Grapefruit seed extract also has potential applications in the modern struggle against H1N1 influenza. So perhaps here we have another potential use for GSE. Apart from its antimicrobial properties, embraced with antibiotics against and usually also I read recently has been promoting research on the antiviral properties of extracts and citrus. It is too early to say how viruses can inactivate many, but William Shannon, head of Microbiology, Virology Division, Southern Research Institute found that the seed extract grapefruit was effective against herpes simplex and one of the influenza virus.
Citricidal is probably the product of choice if they want to get the most GSE strong or citrus extract product for protection against influenza outbreaks unpleasant, since it is the most powerful formula available (three times the power of force GSE regular sold elsewhere on the Internet), but note: care must be taken if grapefruit is used in conjunction with certain drugs, increasing the power of certain compounds. Citricidal (as "normal" GSE) is an amber liquid with a mild citrus aroma. It is nontoxic, biodegradable, non-corrosive but very powerful. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before taking grapefruit seed extract if you have flu symptoms, as he will be able to give appropriate advice on conventional solutions and alternatives.
If Citricidal GSE or swine flu can be cured is unproven, but it seems that there is good evidence the extract of the humble grapefruit seed can pack a punch out of all proportion to its size, helping to immunity and strengthening the immune system must be your first line of defense against any disease or ailment.
I think it's fascinating to see how someone who was just eating a grapefruit and experienced a taste bitter with the seed was able to extend their thought processes beyond the initial obvious question "I wonder why it is so bitter?" to develop this in a research topic and a product with many useful applications. I have the feeling we have not heard the last word on the multiple uses and applications of this interesting product.

Grape fruit juice can inhibit a group of enzymes in the liver called the cytochrome P450 mixed function oxygenases, which are simply enzymes that metabolize (and thus clear from the body) many drugs.

Your cuttings should be 12 inches long, or longer, and should be cut on an angle.
When making your own cuttings, wrap them in moist paper or pack them in material such as damp peat, in a plastic bag.
Keep cuttings refrigerated or store them in an unheated building, in the crawl space under the house. Avoid places where they will freeze. Freezing, per se will not harm them, but can take water out and dessicate them. The ideal temperature is 32-33o F (0-1oC). Properly stored, cuttings can be held for as much as a year or more.
Method 1. Small amounts of cuttings can be callused by wrapping them in moist paper or sphagnum in a black plastic bag. This is the way your cuttings arrive, so if they have been stored properly, they are ready to callus. Put them in a warm area that stays constantly at 80-85oF. The top of a refrigerator is a good place as the waste heat from the condenser collects there. Callusing should occur in one to two weeks. Plant as soon as the cuttings are callused and roots start to appear.
Method 2. Plant the cuttings in a pot of a mix of 3 parts perlite to 1 part peat, by volume. Set the pot on a heat mat set to 85oF (25oC), in a cool area, or even outdoors in a protected area. Rooting occurs in one to two weeks in most cases.
Method 3. Plant the cuttings in a one gallon black pot of the 3:1 perlite-peat mix and set it in a sunny location where the pot can be warmed by the sun. The pot should be no larger than one gallon as the warming effect of the sun will penetrate a larger pot too slowly. Avoid excess watering as that will cool the mix and slow rooting. This is a slower method, often taking as much as a month, and the buds will often start to grow before the roots are formed, but it works well enough for home use.
Planting Cuttings
Once roots are starting to appear, it's time to plant them. Plant cuttings with half or more of their length in the soil to help protect them from dessication. In very hot, dry areas the cuttings can be covered with a mound of loose soil at first. Keep the soil loose and watch for buds breaking through. When buds start to grow, pull the soil mound away from them.
If some of the roots or shoots break during planting, it isn't a disaster, but avoid it if possible as the cutting must expend energy to grow more. If white shoots die or rot back a bit, new shoots will start from the base of the old shoot. Water an inch or more a week until the shoots get to six inches long.
