I have mine in the garden and in pots. I prefer pots although you have to be careful they don't dry out. I have a pot near my back door from the spring to fall and then bring them inside for the winter. I love italion parsely, taste it and you will know why, it just has a finer texture and taste then the crispy regular parsley. Dill is always fabulous, and I recommend basil, french tarragon, chocolate mint (great in coffee, as a herbal tea, in ice cubes, plain, chopped over ice cream etc.), garlic chives, lemon thyme, oregano, and lavender.
These can be used in food but also in your baths, in creams and soaps, in herbal teas, as potporri, added to wax melting potporri, etc. You can always nibble a few leaves at the garden centre to taste what you will be using. I do it all the time, if someone catches me I laugh and tell them what I am doing, I can't tell you how many avid gardeners and cooks I have met over herbs!!!!

If you are feeding a good quality dog food and your dog doesn't have any health problems, vitamin supplements shouldn't be necessary. I wouldn't give human vitamins without asking a vet first. Vegetable oil or Linatone can be added to your dog's food for its skin and coat.

Bin Laden in charge U.S. counterterrorism officials said yesterday that the Navy SEALs who killed al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden seized his “meticulous” handwritten diary along with other documents and electronic information, showing that bin Laden was in operational control of al-Qaeda, communicating with his lieutenants, offering suggestions to diversify targets, and calculating the number of Americans that would need to die before America would depart the Middle East (AP, Independent, CNN, AFP). Bin Laden also reportedly retained a singular focus on the West, a position that caused tension with other members of al-Qaeda (Post).[[BREAK]] While authorities say the diary and other documents contain no “imminent” threat information, they do reportedly show that bin Laden was in direct communication with Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), and even offered criticism of an article published in the affiliate’s English-language magazine “Inspire” (ProPublica, AP). Protest, protest,…

I'm an organic farmer. The best way of growing herbs from my experience in direst seeding into the soil garden. This way you won't have transplant shock. also you only have to thin the herb plants. Many of the herbs you mention are very easy to grow. The most important thing is keeping the soil moist. Then the sun light. Most herb plants need 8 -12 hours a day. throughout the summer. you will enjoy your herb harvest. Feed a little compost and your herb garden will do find. Since they are mostly greenery. Nitrogen is the most important needed nutrient. PH soil should be 6.5 Good luck on your gardening for 2007.

I've grown culinary herbs a couple of summers and from my experience I can give you these tips:

    1) Do not use small individual planting pots for each herb – they dry out very quickly and herbs just do not grow. You should rather get an elongated (like 23'') rectangular planter and seed several herbs side by side.
    2) When you buy potting soil, you should go for an organic mix, since these plants will go into your food.
    3) Seed the herbs of your interest in April or May (June is still ok), keep the soil watered and watch them grow!
    4) If you can, grow the plants outside: if you have a house, put planters on a porch or back yard; if you live in an apartment, maybe you can get a window planter. Plants grow so much faster and are so much more flavorfull when grown outside then inside the kitchen. If you cannot put them outside, put on a sunny window in your kitchen.
    5) While your herbs grow, you can pick leaves or seeds for your cooking without harvesting the whole plant. However, when the plant is grown, you should harvest it all and then freeze or dry the leaves for future use.

    Hope it helps.

When you combine both the direction of race relations and the economic outlook for minorities in this country, things do not look good. Despite the presence of a black president, the atmosphere is ripe for a London-style race riot. The tension is simmering below the surface and just like in London only waiting to boil over.
