I wouldnt know with the tablets,

I collect velerian fresh, and make a tea to combat headaches and to help me sleep. Maybe the pills arent strong enough? Try taking two.

Also be careful with valerian and alcohol, when taken together they have extreme sedative effects and have been known to cause death

You could go to your doctor and get some barbituates (sleeping pills)

Valerian root is an organic way to relieve mild pain and agitation (i.e. headaches). It's main ingredient is not valium. Valium is made up of crystalized diazepam.

then the root wont work for her it smells terrible there is no way i would drink it in tea form they sell it in capsule form that's how i take it and it works well

Valerian Root comes in capsules and is a mild sedative. You can get it anywhere that sells supplement(even Wal-Mart). It's not very sedating so it might help you sleep or calm down in a nervous situation but that's all you'll get. Sorry no fun to be had.

Product Information from Alvita Used for beneficial properties at the time of Hippocrates in the 4th and 5th centuries B.C., Valerian Valeriana officinalis is native to England, Europe and the United States. Valerian derives its name from the Latin valere, to be strong referring to both the plant as well as its distinct odor. It was also referred to as All Heal during the Middle Ages in Britain. In centuries past, it was taken for its soothing, beneficial effect, used as a condiment during medieval times and as a perfume during the 16th century. Today, Valerian Root is used throughout Europe and the U.S. Ingredients Valerian Root Directions The best way to make a good tasting cup of tea is by the infusion method. Place one tea bag in a cup and add no more than 6 oz. of boiling water. Let steep for 3 minutes. Press the bag before removing to enhance the flavor. Add honey to sweeten.

    Galanthamine

Galanthamine is an herb made from the bulbs of a spring flower called Common Snowdrop. The active ingredients also is available as a chemical synthetic in coated tablets and ampules. Some research shows that galanthamine might be helpful in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. Galanthamine also is sometimes recommended as an herbal treatment for Myasthenia gravis and post-polio paralysis. Galanthamine is sometimes used to help reverse the action of neuromuscular blockade (drugs given to stop unwanted muscle movement).

As I have explained to you many times before, the key to breaking this is with counseling. I know you can't help feeling like this, and I do sympathize with you, however there is no pill or magic wand to fix this, it's up to you to break free of this anxiety circle you are in. CBT, a non drug option, is rather effective in doing that.

You seem to be taking a cocktail of crap, some of them not at all useful at best, at worst, addictive and worst still useless and perhaps unsafe..as is the nature of most herbals.

    See your doctor please.

Well you see the Valerian root has been used as a sleep aid for over 1,000 years. Its ability to help relax the central nervous system, promote feelings of calm, decrease levels of anxiety and stress, and enhance sleep are known to millions the world over.

Unlike some prescription sleep aids, valerian is not known to cause morning grogginess and is non-addictive.

The Valerian root has an affinity for GABAA (responsible for mediating the effects of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)) receptors, likely due to the relatively high GABA content in valerian itself. The amount of GABA (the chief inhibitory neurotransmitter in the human central nervous system.) present in valerian extract is sufficient to induce release of GABA in synaptosomes and may also inhibit GABA reuptake.

Other believed mechanisms of action in valerian include inhibition of the catabolism of GABA by valerenolic acid and acetylvalerenolic acid and affinity for the 5-HTA receptor by another constituent of valerian, called hydroxypinoresinal.

Due to the herb’s historical use as an anti-convulsant, sedative, migraine treatment and pain reliever, most basic research has been focused on the interaction of Valerian constituents with the GABA neurotransmitter. The findings of these studies remain inconclusive. Thus, the true mechanism of action of Valerian remains unknown.

Also you should know that the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) gives Valerian a class 1 safety rating, indicating that it is a safe herb with a wide dosage range, but there is also evidence that in some cases of long-term use, serious withdrawal symptoms may occur when it is stopped abruptly.so don't consume too much.

By: Seth Macy October 7, 2011 Let’s take a trip back in time. Not too far; just 2006. America’s economy was zipping along at a frenetic pace. The price of real estate rose exponentially, and if you tried to tell someone that the market wasn’t sustainable, they would laugh in your face. Sony began gearing up for the release of the PlayStation 3, and if you spent any time on the Internet, you probably witnessed an argument or two concerning the $599 price tag for the more feature-rich of the system’s two models.
